Rebecca Williams, Family Therapist. Inland Empire Couple’s Counseling Office

We were asked to design a modern, comfortable office space which included a Waiting Room and Therapy Room. The spaces were small so we had to select appropriately scaled furnishings that would fit and accommodate the needs of the therapist. We decided on a color palette of grey with accents in blue and yellow and wanted to add natural elements for a modern feel. We began by selecting two shades of grey paint and a muted tweed grey carpet. For the windows we selected beautiful white fabric roller shades which allow plenty of natural light into the room and block the not so nice view.

For the Waiting Room we selected four grey modern, sleek side chairs and a console table to hold coffee pot, mugs and glasses as well as some books and decorative accessories. We added modern art and plants to make the room inviting and comfortable.

In the Therapy Room, we were required to provide separate seating for a couple and a chair for the therapist to face the couple. We selected a modern grey love seat and matching club chair for the clients. We added a blue accent chair for the therapist. Two natural wood end tables were added for the love seat and chair and a small black wood table was provided for the blue accent chair. Along the side wall we chose a wooden console table to hold the library of books.  Color was brought in via an abstract canvas over the love seat, blue and yellow accent pillows and blue decorative accessories as well as live plants. A modern floor lamp and added recessed lighting provide adequate light.
