Roxanne Sullivan

Roxanne called me after purchasing a new five bedroom home in Winchester near the Temecula Wine Country. This amazing house has two separate living spaces, a great plan for this multi-generational family. Starting with a blank space, Roxanne and her adult son wanted us to design a Great Room (living, dining, kitchen space) in a Modern style that was comfortable, kid-friendly and budget friendly with a grey and blue color palette incorporating copper accents.

We designed a Nature inspired, modern room with color palette in soft greys, white, blue, yellow and copper.  We began by installing white crown moulding and a custom built-in next to the fireplace. The windows were covered with white plantation shutters. We designed custom draperies for the slider and living room window, adding a great pop of blue color. To create a comfortable sitting area, we selected a dark grey sectional with blue accent pillows and added two comfortable chairs, all from from Living Spaces for plenty of seating.  The cocktail and end tables we selected were wood and metal from Pottery Barn giving the room the natural elements we wanted for the design.

Roxanne and her son wanted a specific, traditional wood dining room table which we paired with modern beige, nail studded dining chairs. We selected a console for the front hall which coordinates with the dining table and makes a cohesive design statement. A dark grey area rug from Loloi Rugs was selected for under the dining table to define the space and add more color and texture. Modern grey bar stools from Living Spaces were selected for the kitchen island, providing plenty of seating for family and guests.

In the foyer, we selected a beautiful light wood chest to welcome visitors into the home and provide a handy space for homeowners to drop of keys when they enter their home.

Gorgeous lighting fixtures were selected from Uttermost. A large copper drum pendant chandelier was specified for the dining room, and black and copper pendant lights were chosen for the kitchen. Copper table lamps were selected for the two end tables next to the sectional sofa. The combination of recessed lighting, chandelier, pendants and table lamps provide plenty of light for this large space.

Beautiful, colorful artwork from Uttermost compliments the space while reinforcing the nature theme and adding the pops of color we needed against our neutral grey walls. A beautiful copper sunburst mirror was hung over the built-in cabinet next to the fireplace. We finished the room with decorative accessories and greenery . The result is a room that is modern, comfortable, pretty and functional while blending modern and traditional style elements and beautiful natural woods. We finished this project by decorating the front porch with a beautiful area rug, two rockers, side table, planters and large lanterns. Roxanne and her family couldn’t be happier and they plan to have us design the second suite in their home.
